When we come in pairs to our resource room, we sometimes get to play with the Kinetic Sand. It is like real sand, but it has a very different feeling. It sticks together really well. We made all sorts of shapes and buildings, we raced to make the most fish, we buried each others' hands and we saw who could make the strongest sphere. It's great fun!
It was such a nice day outside today, we got a desk and did our work in the school yard!!! Maybe we should have an outdoor school... Miss Dooley even gave us the loan of her sunglasses so we could see our work better! Two of the Junior Infants came out to visit us and serenade us with their excellent tin whistle music. At break-time, before we brought the desk back in, the other kids all ran over to see what it was!
In our room we have a really interesting box we call "The Squishy Box". Everyone likes to take a turn with the things in the box. We can squash and squeeze them, throw and catch them, push and pull them... They're really interesting. They make us use all our senses, and help us get used to all sorts of different textures. They're even good when we get a bit tired or stressed, because it's something different to pay attention to. Here one pupil is demonstrating a few of the Squishy Box items!
4th, 5th and 6th in the prefab!
