For Science Week 2022, 3rd and 4th class took part in a hands-on experiment to investigate how materials can change their state of matter, as well as the effects of heating and cooling on liquids, solids and gases. As the part of this the students made their own ice-cream which they enjoyed on a cone on a chilly November day.

Third and Fourth class were learning about different types of materials as part of their science lesson. In pairs they explored outside the school to see what materials made up different features of the school yard.
This week we were learning about shapes in 3rd and 4th class. We went on a shape hunt outside and took pictures of the many shapes we saw using iPads. We then edited our photos, highlighting the exact shapes on each picture and labelling each of the shapes too. Finally, we went back into the classroom and shared what we found with the other children in the class.
To celebrate Maths Week 2021 the pupils in our school took part in a number of different activities and events. In 3rd and 4th class we had a daily maths challenge competition, played maths board games, had a scavenger hunt, we took part in some interactive games on the iPads and interactive whiteboard and we even integrated maths into our PE lessons. Below are pictures of some of our activities during the week. We all had great fun!
The very talented pupils in Ms. Rafferty's class created some wonderful moonlit owls for one of their art lessons. I think you'll agree they look fantastic!
Here are a selection of pictures of the children in 3rd and 4th class participating in a number of activities before the Christmas holidays. These include art lessons, project work using iPads, our Christmas post delivery, Christmas jumper day and our last day of school where we enjoyed some hot chocolate and a movie. We are looking forward to the break, to spending time with our loved ones and of course, the arrival of Santa!
To get the class in the festive spirit we decided to create our own decorations to adorn our class Christmas tree. The class used a range of different materials to create a variety of personalised decorations. I'm sure you'll agree that these turned out beautifully!
In 3rd and 4th class we were working on the the theme of 'houses' as part of our history and geography. We had great fun combining our art lesson with some engineering work to create our very own lollipop houses. Once the houses were constructed we painted them in the colours of our choice. We were delighted with the results!
