We have (finally!) finished our sun and moon art. We had been looking at the colour wheel with Veronika, so we decided to get a little more in-depth. We split our pages in two and kept the warm colours mostly on the sun side and the cool colours on the moon side. We also used patterns, shapes and zentangles to fill the spaces in between. Somebody even managed to fit in all the planets in the Solar System! See if you can spot them all!
With the beautiful weather this month, our plants have been thriving! First of all, have a look at our broadbeans. We can clearly see how the roots grow down and the shoots grow up no matter which direction the seed is. Amazing!
Next, our sunflowers have really taken off! They must be very happy in the cups Marina left us after our day with Dog Rose!
Finally, Isabelle very kindly brought us a whole selection of little seed pots, and we can't wait to see how they grow! Everyone who brought a yoghurt pot also got the chance to plant some of our extra seeds. Our windows are full of greenery now!
We have been looking at how plants reproduce and grow, as well as how they work and transport food and water. One of the properties of plants is 'geotropism', which means that their roots always grow down and their shoots always grow up. We're experimenting to see if this is true with broadbean seeds. Each class planted two, and we're going to watch them grow!
4th, 5th and 6th in the prefab!
