We put up some of our recent work on our classroom walls. First are our camel poems: we all started a four line poem with "Camel, Camel..." and then made the rest up ourselves. We also recently finished reading The Hodgeheg by Dick King-Smith. It was about a little hedgehog that gets a bang on the head and starts to mix up his speech. There was a lot more to the story too, and to remind us of all the characters, we made our own Hodgehegs out of paper heart shapes!

We all worked in pairs to finish our Space Display. Every pair had a topic to research, and had to make a title, a picture and a piece of writing about the thing. Thankfully, we had a lot of books from the school library, as well as ones that pupils kindly brought in, to read from. We love our display!
We made rockets using fizzy vitamin tablets and yoghurt drink bottles. The tablet and the water worked together in the bottle to make carbon dioxide gas, and this built up inside the bottle until it was strong enough to pop the lid off and send the bottle into the air in the opposite direction! Real rockets work like this, shooting the astronauts up into space! We are looking at lots of books about our Solar System this week, and in one of our lessons we compared the sizes of the planets. To give us an idea, our teacher cut up different fruits and we looked at how big or small they were. Afterwards, we labelled them to match their planets! (Our watermelon got mouldy very fast! We had to throw it out quickly!)
We were so good with all the work we did for our First Holy Communion, we got treated to a trip to the playground, where we also had a picnic lunch.
We are learning about length and measuring in maths this month. We have learned about short things we can measure in centimetres (cm) and long things we can measure in metres (m). We thought it would be good fun to go to the track across the road and measure out 100m to run! Most of us can run 100m in about 45 seconds. We still have some work to do to catch up with the fastest man in the world - Usain Bolt can run 100m in 9.58 seconds!
