Have a look at some of the activities we do in our P.E. class!

We have been doing a lot of work about trees in the lead up to National Tree Day. We are learning a lovely poem about a little acorn - make sure to ask us to say it for you! We're really good at it!
We went for a nature walk today to see a giant horse-chestnut tree in our town. We were able to collect a lot of leaves and a lot of chestnuts. We might even be able to play a few games of conkers, since we have so many! On our walk we also saw the lovely new photo spot for Headford Lace, and we had to stop and take a group photo! We were able to name some other trees we spotted too - Ash, Mountain Ash, Oak, Copper Maple, Sycamore and Beech. We were studying the Normans in our history lessons, and it reminded Noah of the Normandy Landings by the allies during WWII. He remembered that his dad worked on the film Saving Private Ryan when it was being filmed in Ireland. Noah brought in some really interesting photos and newspaper articles from the time the filming took place and showed them to the class. Thanks Noah!
As a treat for the Communion class (and the 3rd class who have been so helpful all year) we went to the playground this afternoon!
Today we looked at a really exotic fruit - dragonfruit! We learned that it comes from Central America and South East Asia (especially Thailand and Vietnam). We think it's got the word "dragon" in it, because the skin on the outside looks like big scales - like a dragon would have. It's shaped a bit like a rugby ball and it's bright pink. We learned that it's usually surprisingly white on the inside, with lots of black seeds, but our sample was one that was pink on the inside. It was so pink, actually, that it stained our fingers. We decided it could be a very good lipstick!
It's almost Easter! We thought we were just getting a surprise trip to the playground, but we also had an Easter Egg hunt!!! We divided into teams and had to find the coloured eggs that matched our team. After that we got to play in the playground! We were also delighted when Padraic's mum gave us a HUGE Easter cake! It was delicious!!! Thank you!
Here we are at work in our classroom. We were practicing retelling a story. It takes a lot of concentration to be sure we remember the characters, the setting, the problem and the solution! We practiced first by retelling stories and fairy tales we all knew, like Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel. Then we added an extra challenge by planning and writing our own stories and including all the steps!
