On Friday mornings we go swimming. The pool we use is Coral Leisure Club in Tuam. (We have a joke that the fastest town in Ireland is "CHOOOOOOOM!" C: ) We get on a big bus together to go to Tuam. It takes us about 15 minutes to get to Tuam. Here we are with our seatbelts on, all ready to go! When we get off the bus we walk inside the Tuam Leisure Centre. Sometimes we wait a few minutes in the foyer. When we're ready we go into our dressing rooms or dressing cubicles, close the doors and change into our swimming togs! We pack up our clothes and shoes and put them into a locker. The teachers keep an eye on our lockers while we swim, so we know our belongings are safe. There are two pools and a jacuzzi. We don't use the jacuzzi, because we're training to be excellent swimmers! We divide into groups from beginners to experts. Beginners are safe in the shallow pool. Experts swim in the deeper pool and they swim longer lengths. We swim with our trainers for about 30 minutes. We get little breaks in between exercises. They can always see us and hear us, and there are loads of adults around if we need any help or feel scared. The swimming instructors are also lifeguards and there is safety equipment everywhere in the pool, so we know we will be safe if we ever need it.
When we finish our time in the pool, we get out and get our clothes from the lockers. It's easy to find your clothes if you just remember your locker number! We dry off and change back into our clothes in the dressing cubicles. People with longer hair sometimes use the hairdryers to dry their hair before we get on the bus. When we're all ready we check we have all of our belongings and then get back on the bus. The teachers count everybody to make sure we're all on the bus. We are allowed to eat some snacks on the way back to school and we take our rubbish with us. In about 15 or 20 minutes we are back to school and all ready to work again!
